We received the news of Haji Ishaq Ali Sanator (my father’s cousin)’s passing on the second day of this year’s Nowruz which brought us all into mourning. Haji Sanator was known for his diligence, hard work, philanthropy, and amiability. He approached everyone with sincerity and compassion.

Haji Sanator was a highly skilled genealogist with an extraordinary knowledge of the social fabric, family trees, and various groups in Jaghori, particularly the villages around Sang-e-Masha (the center of Jaghori).

One of Haji Sanator’s remarkable traits was his exceptional memory. Despite not attending school, he had memorized almost all the poems of Ferdowsi’s Shahnama. He enlivened our winter book-reading sessions in the village by reciting poems from the Shahnama and engaging in lively discussions.

Moreover, Haji Sanator was a highly skilled genealogist with an extraordinary knowledge of the social fabric, family trees, and various groups in Jaghori, particularly the villages around Sang-e-Masha (the center of Jaghori). We frequently relied on him as a source of information to comprehend different regions, families, and social groups. Indeed, Haji Sanator’s presence enriched gatherings and assemblies as a ‘Talking Shah Nama’ and ‘Living Genealogist’.

One of Haji Sanator’s remarkable traits was his exceptional memory. Despite not attending school, he had memorized almost all the poems of Ferdowsi’s Shahnama.

Given that, our people and relatives have lost an irreplaceable figure, and this year’s spring has begun without this extraordinary personality, leaving us in mourning during the days of Nowruz.

I extend my condolences to his esteemed sons and daughters, as well as to other relatives, friends, and all those affected by this news. May peace be upon the soul of Sanator.

May his memory endure forever.
